Mother's Day Is Around The Corner

I don't know about you, but I'm grateful for my mom. I suppose I would be jobless if it weren't for her fearless nepotism which allowed me to climb the ladder and move straight to the top and become President of the company she founded 6 years ago.

Actually, there are many more reasons I'm grateful for my mom. I am incredibly lucky to call her my own and I love sharing her with others.

Though I won't be spending face-to-face time with her on Mother's Day, I will be thinking about all that she has done for the GLBT community through her tireless commitment to equality and relentless wish to have fun with everyone she meets.

If you haven't read the story about how she founded our company, check it out here.

What will you be doing for Mother's Day? Taking her out for a nice brunch? Lending her a hand with the chores she hates most? Or, perhaps getting her a special gift?

I noticed that HRC is offering a special gift package for Mother's Day. With a gift membership to HRC ($40), your mom will also receive a subscription to Equality Magazine and a sun catcher -- HRC style -- for her window.

You can support equality and offer something special to your mom via this link.

Another idea might be to offer her a membership to PFLAG (Parents & Friends of Lesbians & Gays) or Atticus Circle, which seeks to achieve equality for all parents and partners, regardless of sexual orientation -- two wonderful organizations which have been built on the strength and efforts of our straight allies who want to help make a difference for us. My mom is a big fan of both organizations.

So, do something special this Mother's Day. Take a few minutes to tell your mothers, mothers-in-law, or mother-figures that you appreciate them.

It's the least we can do to thank them for bringing us into this world!
